My love of animals has been engrained in me from a young age. I grew up in a zoo. Not technically, but basically. My mom started working at our local zoo when I was very young. This meant I was able to see all of the behind the scenes happenings at our zoo. From helping with meal prep of all the animals, cleaning enclosures, and visiting the lions and tigers in the zookeeper only areas. (Outside the enclosures of course!) Zoo life didn't end at the zoo. It came home with my mom! We raised a wallaby, had visits from bear cubs, kept African Greys, played with lion cubs, had pet bobcat/racoons/foxes, the list goes on!
Somewhere during all of this, we got our first Aussie. (We were told the breed was Panish. But she was essentially an Aussie imported from Spain.) This girl is where I acquired my love for the Australian Shepherd breed. She was the definition of a Velcro Dog. Wherever I went, she was there with me. My constant shadow. She accompanied me while riding horses. Lacie traveled many, many mountain miles next to my horse. Either helping push cows, or just enjoying the adventure. She was a girls best friend! (Lacie is pictured above with our racoon, Elliot.)
Later in life, I have passed on my love for animals to our children. They absolutely love our Aussies, and are always claiming the aussies as theirs. They have been exposed to snake keeping, reptiles in general, livestock, zoo life (of course), and again the list goes on. I can only hope to continue passing on the love of animals to them, and teach them the importance of proper care and maintenance.
We are a small family run breeding program with big goals in mind. As a family of five, we have plenty of hands to love on our dogs! Our children have helped with the whelping process, waste clean up, grooming, you name it. They love helping and interacting with our dogs. None of this would be possible without my husbands support. Or should I say tolerance? (Giggle) I am a lucky lady to have a husband who tolerates my extreme love for animals and the want to have the house full of fluffy love.
A healthy dog is a happy dog!
All of our Aussies are tested for genetic diseases and are bred with the betterment of the breed in mind. Genetic diseases are 100% preventable with testing and proper pairings. We select our dogs from healthy, tested lines.
We want to provide you with a friend that will live a long and healthy life!
Australian Shepherds are a very fun loving, intelligent breed. They are very biddable, and love to please. Their intelligence makes them very capable of taking on a large variety of jobs. With intelligence comes boredom. This breed needs to have mental stimulation to thrive and be happy. An Aussie kept busy, will be a very happy Aussie indeed! Australian shepherds also love their people, and will stay velcroed to their persons side. Aussies can be cautious of strangers, and should be well socialized at a young age. Overall, they make very loyal and loving companions.
